New month and new episode of our travel diary in the SCIFI project. We left each other with Delft\u2019s meeting with stakeholders of the project and the definition of working plan to carry on to get efficiently at the end of first\u00a0milestone<\/i>.<\/p>\n

City of Delft has begun to share data about indicators useful to develop the geographic decision support model. This sharing, validating and analyzing job is still ongoing, but it is already showing an excellent level of collaboration between Delft and Sis.Ter.<\/p>\n

Among activities carried out in February, Sis.Ter developed an informative questionnaire to be delivered to Werkse!, maintenance company that works in Delft. This activity aims to involve in this project those who daily work to maintain the urban cleanliness of the Dutch city. In fact, their direct experience and their work routine, although not organized in a database, are very important to understand which are waste collection schemes adopted so far. Thus we will have a starting point from which we can implement an optimization strategy of collection processes.<\/p>\n

Parallel to data analysis coming from Delft, we started scouting activities about sensors we are going to use for waste monitoring. Sis.Ter decided to carry out some functional and operational tests, requesting to city of Delft to send a waste bin as sample. We purchased two different types of sensors, chosen after a careful analysis of solutions on the market, and we will now test them inside the bin. We will carry out fixing tests, filling level reading tests and LPWAN technologies communication tests.<\/p>\n

Last but not least we had a training session: Vincent of Faubourg Num\u00e9rique explained advantages of FIWARE framework and its potential in terms of interoperability to Sis.Ter and Delft teams.<\/p>\n
